We would like to introduce you to one of our Outstanding BlueSkyians – Anchi Leong who joined one of our IELTS intensive classes in 2019 and achieved an IELTS overall score of 8 on her first attempt.
She has shared her experiences and inspirations as follow:
Hi, my name is An Chi. Growing up with English as my first language, I didn’t have a problem with speaking, reading or listening but writing was a different story. I do creative writing so I always had a struggle with academic writing. When I decided to go to culinary school, I needed to take an IELTS because although English was my first language, Myanmar and Malaysia were not accepted in the “native English” countries.
So, I joined the school named Blue Sky International and did an intensive IELTS course. After weeks of hard work, I took the exam and when the exam results came, I was extremely happy. The intense hours and the hard work had paid off. I quickly applied to my dream school in Switzerland and with these results, they happily accepted me into the program despite me being 17. This was around 2 years ago.
Since then, I finished my second year in culinary school, did two internships; one in Portugal and I’m currently doing my second internship in Barcelona. I got into my dream school with the help of my parents and my teachers.
Being a chef has always been this big dream of mine. Since I was a little girl, I had two dreams. Be a chef and travel the world, so when the opportunity came to do the two things I love at once, I jumped at it. It has been 2 years of hard work, gruelling hours, twelve to fourteen hour shifts a day, and 9 days without a day off, I am close to the end of my second internship and the start of my third and final year of school.
In about 8 months, I will be graduating with a double Bachelor’s degree. You always have a control over your future, you just have to be stubborn enough to get what you want but also realistic enough to let go of the impossible.
Our hearty congratulations to Anchi on achieving a very good socre of 8 on her IELTS test. We are so happy that she has chosen to study with us, and we really appreciate her for sharing her experiences and inspirations. We wish her all the best on her journey of pursuing her dream as she completes the rest of her studies in Europe.

Being a graduate of BEd, MPA, and MA in Teaching of English as a Foreign Language, she is a well-trained and well-experienced ESL Teacher, Teacher Trainer, Success Coach & Mentor, and Business & Education Consultant. She has also worked as a Social Enterprise Consultant and “Education for Entrepreneurs” Trainer with the British Council, Myanmar, and a Lecturer for the MBA program at Temasek International College, and a Research Associate with the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is passionate about teaching, training, researching, consulting and coaching.
