Outstanding BlueSkyian (24)

Here comes another Outstanding BlueSkyian, Mo Mo Pe Than, who has achieved an IELTS score of 7.0 on her IELTS test taken in July 2022. We are so happy that Mo Mo could earn this score on her first attempt. She has been with us, studying one course after another, since the year 2020. Her hard work has now yielded good results!

Over the past two years, Mo Mo has studied all the 10 Preliminary English coursebooks and most of the First English coursebooks, joining our online classes organized by Blue Sky International. After the completion of all the CEFR level B1 lessons and most of the B2 level lessons, she started joining an IELTS preparation class in mid 2021, and took an IELTS actual test in July 2022.

For someone like her who had never learned English as a language in her high school days, she did make a lot of effort to earn this IELTS score of 7 on her first attempt. Our big congratulations to Momo on this achievement! We are so proud of you! Cheers to all the best with your further studies aboard!

The following are the tips shared by Mo Mo for those of you who are preparing to take an IELTS test.

My name is Mo Mo Pe Than. I joined Blue Sky International (BSI) on 12 May 2020. I attended foundation courses and IELTS preparation courses. Before that, my English level is just intermediate. However, thanks to Blue Sky International, I improved a lot. I did not feel pressured when I was taking online classes by BSI. The teachers are really patient in explaining to students.

Speaking

Having speaking partners and practicing with them day in and day out can enhance your speaking skill significantly. Moreover, when you think about something, it is important to think in English. That is one of the effective strategies. If you cannot think of how to say something in English spontaneously then you can google it. You can search on Google by writing as you understand. From that, you will know the how to make a naturel sentence or phrase you want to express in English. Last but not least, websites such as IELTSdragon and IELTSmentor can boost your lexical resource.

Listening

Both active listening and passive listening are important. Active listening means practicing old questions. Passive listening is like listening to English music, movies, or podcasts. Playing English conversations from BBC or TED talks whenever you have free time can also level up your listening skill.

Reading

Following three types of reading may help you – speed reading, search reading, and careful reading. Speed reading means reading the whole paragraph from the first to the end very quickly. Search reading is finding information by looking for the same words, synonyms, and paraphrases. Finally, careful reading is when you read the passage carefully by using keywords. Read word to word, phrase to phrase.

Writing

Reading sample answers plays a crucial part. And it is helpful to practice writing every week. Getting feedback is also essential. Otherwise, you may not know which area you need to work on for the improvement.

Overall tips

One needs enough sleeping time to consolidate the memory. If you have time, try to meditate. You need to be calm and mindful on your test day.

Our big congrulations to Mo Mo on achieving this high score on her first attempt! In fact, it’s higher than her targeted one! We are so happy that you’ve made it. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavors.
